Can i utilize my existing hardware?

We strongly recommend purchasing our affordable, approved hardware for your POS system. However, we’ll also do our best to utilize compatible existing hardware, if applicable.

How do i sell online?

What does it cost to get started?

Can i transfer my current menu to the new POS system?

Yes – we’ll provide a CSV template to help you copy and paste your menu from one POS system to another.

Who processes credit card transactions?

Cantina handles all credit card processing. Utilizing integrated processing with our first-class POS technology, we offer a one-stop shop to encompass all your merchant service needs.

Can i use my own processor?

Yes! You are welcome to bring your own processing if it is compatible with one of our current processors. Please check with our sales team to obtain the most up-to-date list of compatible devices.

What is zero-cost processing?

Cantina’s zero-cost processing service, known as a cash discount, allows clients to avoid paying costly merchant service fees by passing Cantina’s flat rate onto card-paying customers. As a result, you’ll never pay for processing.

What’s the difference between cash discounting and surcharging?

A cash discount is when you post credit card prices and offer discounts for customers who pay with cash. A surcharge is when you post cash prices and charge additional fees for those who wish to pay by credit card. Cantina’s technology allows you to offer discounts for cash payments – a legal practice in all states.

Surcharging is only legal in 42 states.

Why is PCI compliance important?

All businesses who allow customers to pay by credit card must adhere to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). The primary purpose of the PCI DSS is to combat card fraud by isolating and tackling potential breaches or hacks that could compromise customer data. Are cash discounts legal?

Yes! Cash discount programs are legal in all 50 states in accordance with the Durbin Amendment (part of the 2010 Dodd-Frank Law). The law permits businesses to offer discounts to incentivize customers to pay for goods and services with cash.

Do i have to offer cash discounts?

Absolutely not! We want to offer the best pricing solution for your needs. As such, we offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee, whereby we’ll immediately cancel your cash discounting plan if you want to switch back to traditional interchange pricing.

How soon will i receive deposits?

We offer next-business-day income deposits if you settle your payments by 11pm EST at the latest. If you settle after 11PM, we’ll deposit your funds within two business days. Same-day funding is available upon request.

What credit cards can i accept?

Cantina allows merchants to accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and JCB credit cards, along with a range of other products and services. Contact our support team to find out how to add more services to your account.

What is EMV?

EMV (or Europay, MasterCard, and Visa) refers to cards containing small microchips designed to keep cardholder information more secure than a magnetic stripe. Each EMV transaction comes with a dynamic authentication code much harder to steal than the data contained in a magnetic stripe. EMV cards have been popular in Europe for many years and came to the US in October 2015.

What are NFC payments?

Near Field Communication (NFC) payments represent the lastest update to the payment environment and include services like ApplePay and AndroidPay. Typically, an NFC transaction requires a customer’s mobile device and an NFC reader. The customer will hover or tap their phone on the reader and the transaction will occur within seconds. As well as being protected by encryption, NFC transactions are processed much quicker and more efficiently than magnetic stripe or EMV payments.

How long does it take to get approved?

We’ll typically process your application within 24 hours of completion. If approved, we’ll set up your merchant account and ship your hardware.

How do i qualify for free hardware?

When you register for a merchant account, you’re eligible for a free payment terminal. To make the most of this offer, speak to a sales representative about your hardware needs.
